Education:
Ph.D. Candidate, Sociology, University of Michigan
B.A., Government/International Relations, Wesleyan University, 2002
Research interests:

Her interests include the reciprocal relationships between changes in population demographics, health, and political economy and changes in the social structure of gender. Her research seeks to investigate who contests gender inequality and by what means they promote change. And, on the flip side, who has access to messages about gender equality and how they perceive and use those messages in their daily lives.
Experience/Employment:
Rachael worked for five years for an international development organization, managing gender, agriculture, trade, and financial services programs in Africa. Among other programs, she oversaw a worldwide United States Agency for International Development (USAID) women’s legal rights project. Rachael also served as an internal consultant, leading trainings and providing guidance on monitoring and evaluation of project performance.
